The HVIG (How Virtual Intergoup) now an approved fiscally sponsored program of United Charitable.  All IRS reporting, administration, audits and financial oversite are taken care of by our fiscal sponsor. We now have the benefits of being a non-profit without the burdens of administration.

Our Mission

To Serve Those Who Still Suffer

The mission of the HVIG is to carry the message of recovery through the Twelve Steps to the compulsive eater who still suffers. In addition, we may provide grants and scholarships to individuals, meetings or organizations to further the mission of the HVIG.  


Note:  The mission statement is IRS compliant and provides opportunities for maximum diversity and inclusion for those we serve and our fellowship.

We now accept online donations through our fiscally sponsored online donations portal. You may choose the option to contribute one-time or set up recurring donations that work for you. As per OA guidelines, the suggested meeting donation is $5 per meeting.  However, give what you can, when you can.  Thank you for supporting the Two-Hour OA HOW Phone Meetings. A portion of your donations also support OA World Service and the Virtual Region.

The Two-Hour OA HOW Phone Meetings are part of the Virtual Region of OA and we also support Overeaters Anonymous World Service Office.  Your one-time or ongoing donations support the work of OA around the world.  The HVIG also donates to OA as a fellowship, sending a percentage of all donations to OA and the Virtual Region throughout the year.

"Every OA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions."  


Since 2020, the number of Two-Hour OAHOW Meetings listed on this site has grown from nine weekly meetings to 21, with more in development. 


Currently, there are over 5000 visitors to our website on a monthly basis.  And the numbers are growing as we expand to other countries.


  The challenges of working OA HOW recovery in a virtual world are unique. While most of our meetings are virtual only with no physical location, there are expenses to maintain and grow our fellowship.


Therefore, we continue to need your financial support, and donations are now fully tax deductible. 


Please give what you can, when you can.

Per our group conscience, the HVIG contributes funds in excess of prudent reserve ($1500) to the Virtual Region and OA World Service in a 60%/40% split. 


Here's are just some of the ways your donations support our fellowship:

  • Monthly website hosting fee ($10.59 plus tax)
  • Paid delegate attendance to the OA Business Conference. ($1500)
  • Scholarships for meetings
  • OA World Service Office support

  • Outreach opportunities
  • Collaborating with professionals like doctors, nutritionists, recovery centers and more...

This website is supported by your generous donations and dedicated volunteers from within our fellowship. The communications committee is looking for volunteers to help with the website updates, the We Care List, Documents and Folders, the Newsletter and more. It takes over 30 volunteers monthly to serve on the HVIG to make it work. We need help, so please consider volunteering to do service and come join the fun and fellowship.
