Congratulations to over 50 volunteers for creating the AMAZING convention experience. Stay tuned for important updates! The HVIG and the Convention Committee worked together in Unity to serve our recovery community!
First of all, thank you all for your efforts in successfully executing this wonderful convention.
I am a relative newcomer to HOW after stumbling in May of 2020. From the very beginning when I began the HOW program, I have recovery and support from this inspiring OA HOW community. As such, I felt the need to jump on board and give back in service. Not sure how I could help, but that meant I had to say yes to available service positions, become an HVIG rep to support our weekly meetings, volunteer to help support our our first virtual OA HOW convention.
I sat in on convention planning meetings. I happen to lack any of the "techie" skills that might have contributed to the development of this virtual platform. But I am filled with gratitude for the members who were are so tireless, generous and selfless in their efforts that provided a way for all of us to come together in unity.
During the convention (Jan 28-30, 2022) I volunteered to be a timer annd to read the Promises. Being involved made me feel like I am part of this community. I fee a sense of purpose and pride at being a member of this Fellowship. I felt such a connection to all those bright, healthy abstinent faces and from the several speakers I had a chance to hear. The one that resonated most to me was how important it is that I carry this message in traditional OA and other 12 step meetings with humility and grace. I look forward to hearing the recorded meetings that I missed.
I believe this convention inspired a fresh energy in our OA HOW Recovery Fellowship. I look forward to connecting even more with members and the next convention. I plan to continue to be involved with the HVIG, the wonderful service body who makes it possible for our virtual community to grow and be recovered during such challenging times.
I loved the session on OA HOW history; I wish we had a book; the organized email of the times and topics; I loved how it was HOW focused;
Inspiring speakers who model life in recovery; The recovery and breakout rooms, awesome knowledge of AA and OA HOW history; I liked seeing the faces of my fellows who I don't always see at my meeting.
The ease and support of technology was amazing; Hope it's a yearly event; It was very well organized and easy to attend.
This website is supported by your generous donations and dedicated volunteers from within our fellowship. The communications committee is looking for volunteers to help with the website updates, the We Care List, Documents and Folders, the Newsletter and more. It takes over 30 volunteers monthly to serve on the HVIG to make it work. We need help, so please consider volunteering to do service and come join the fun and fellowship.
